Objectives
To get the control of home appliances using INFRARED REMOTE SWITCH USING
MICROCONTROLLER.
To switch on/off the Home Appliances by using a standard Remote control.
The system can be used to switch on/off upto six electrical devices.
The project can switch on/off electrical devices of maximum load current of 5Amperes.
2
Introduction
In this project we are operating different types of devices from a certain distance by a
RC5 remote.
Microcontroller (AT89C2051) and inverter is used.
A 12v supply is taken parallel and fed to relay driver ic (ULN2003) which require for the
relay to operate.
The IR receiver and crystal oscillator are connected to the microcontroller and the relay
are connected to IC ULN2003.

Conclusion
A remote controlled device primarily saves a lot of time and energy..
It can be used in the case of a number of devices and applications such as TV, VCR,
camera, CD speller, radio, lamp, fan, music system.
The remote control can extend up to a long distance depending on the frequency used
and the efficiency of the circuit.
A single remote control can be made to operate at different frequencies, each
corresponding to a particular task to be performed by the appliance,
Tediousness of operating the appliance in its close proximity is done away with.

Future Scope
The range of the remote control IR sensor is upto 10 meters. Further improvement can be
done to increase the range.
High power devices can be connected through this system after using further work on
relay.
A further improvement can be done increasing the number of devices connected more
than 6) by using different microcontroller using different code.
Load capacity more than 5 A can be connected after further research work.
