Me Laboratory 2 Report No. 4

Fluid velocity refers to the speed at which fluid particles move within a pipe or channel. In laminar flow, particles closer to the center move faster than those near the edges. Flow meters use the Bernoulli principle - the downstream pressure is lower than upstream pressure after an obstruction. Common flow meters include orifice plates and Venturi meters. Orifice plates have a circular hole that causes a pressure difference upstream and downstream. Venturi meters narrow the pipe to increase velocity and thus pressure difference.
