The Life of

Jesus
The Incarnation

Jesus was conceived in


the womb of the Virgin
Mary by the power of the
Holy Spirit
- Luke 1: 26-38
The Birth of Jesus

Jesus Christ was born in


the poor manger of
Betlehem, surrounded by
Love of Mary and Joseph.
There are angels and
shepherds adored him.
- Luke 2 : 1-20
The Epiphany
The three kings followed
the star, till they reached
Betlehem. There they
worshiped the newly born
Jesus, and offered him
gold, frankincense, myrrh.
- Matthew 2: 1-12
The Presentation of Jesus at the Temple

Marry and Joseph brought


Jesus to the temple, to offer
him to the lord. Jesus was only
40 days old. It was in
obedience to the law of Moses
which prescribed: every first-
born male must be consecrated
to the lord.

The flight into Egypt and the massacre
of the innocents

A short time later, Herod


decided to kill all the children
of Bethlehem, and the holy
family had to flee into Egypt.
After three years, Herod died,
and they went back to
nazareth
- (Matthew 2: 13-18).
The finding of Jesus in the Temple.

At the age of 12, Jesus was lost.


Mary and Joseph found him after
three days, while he was
discussing in the Temple with the
doctors of the law. Jesus said to
them: why were you looking for
me? Did you not know that I must
be busy with my father’s affairs?-

(Luke 2:49).
The hidden life in Nazareth.

Jesus stayed in Nazareth


for 30 years, working as
carpenter. He increased in
wisdom, age and grace
with God and men-

(Luke 2:51-52).
The baptism in the Jordan.

At the age of 30, Jesus


was baptized by John the
Baptist in the Jordan. It
was the beginning of his
public life.

(Luke 3:21-22).
The temptation of Jesus in the desert.

Jesus was tempted by the


devil in the desert for 40
days, but he succeed
against all his
temptations.

(Luke 4:1-13).
Three years of preaching.

Jesus preached that we must


repent and believe the Gospel if we
want to enter into the Kingdom of
God. As the Gospel says Jesus
made a tour through all the towns
and villages, teaching in their
synagogues, proclaiming the Good
News of the Kingdom and curing all
kinds of diseases and sickness.

(Matthew 9:35).
The ascent towards Jerusalem.

Although Jesus knew he would be


killed, he went towards Jerusalem.
Jesus did not escape from the Cross,
because he knew that without the
Cross there is neither resurrection nor
eternal life. As the Gospel says: As
the time drew near for him to be taken
up to heaven, he resolutely took the
road for Jerusalem.

(Luke 9:51).
The entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem

Jesus entered Jerusalem


riding a humble donkey, while
people acclaimed: hosanna to
the Son of David! Blessing to
him who comes in the name of
the Lord. Hosanna in the
highest heavens!

(Matthew 21:9).
The Crucifixion
On the way to Calvary,
Jesus met his mother,
the Virgin Mary. He also
met Veronica, who
wiped his face. Then he
saw the women of
Jerusalem, who wept
from him.
The Crucifixion
Finally a man from Cyrene
helped him carry the
Cross. When they had
reached the Golgotha, the
soldiers stripped Jesus of
his clothing, and crucified
him together with two
robbers.
The Crucifixion
From noon until three,
Jesus cried out in a loud
voice: My God, my God,
why have you deserted
me? Then Jesus yielded
up his spirit

(Matthew 27: 32-56).


The Resurrection
At dawn, on the first day of the
week Mary Magdalene and
other women went to the tomb.
All at once there was a violent
earthquake. The angel of the
Lord, descending from heaven,
rolled away the stone and sat on
it.

(Matthew 27: 32-56).


The Resurrection
He said to the women:
There is no need for you
to be afraid. I know you
are looking for Jesus,
who was crucified. He is
not here, for he has
risen, as he said he
would. Come and see the
place where he lay. Then
go quickly and tell his
disciples: He has risen
from the dead.
The Resurrection
Filled with awe and
great joy the
women left the
tomb and ran to tell
everything to the
disciples.
