Jacob’s Ladder By: Kelsey Lawrence
Our mission is clear, and our
promise is steadfast-
We believe that every brain
is capable of new growth
and change.
No matter what the
condition or diagnosis given
we know that the brain can
change based on the input
and stimulation it receives .
Our job is to provide that
intense interaction and
stimulation- consistently and
daily
Our mission is to believe in
the potential of each child
who enters our doors, while
readily and lovingly
expressing that belief
That is who we are.
Core Values
HOPE –HOPE is a cherished trust in transformation and a life lived through
possibilities
TRUTH –TRUTH is integrity in action, character and speech based on what is
accurate and honest
LOVE –LOVE always HOPES and perseveres, regardless of circumstances and is a
choice we make to value and honor another with our actions
I have always had a passion for kids. I have
babysat for multiple families throughout
high school, summer breaks and college. I
always loved earning extra money, but I
also loved bonding with the kids. I never
knew that I could work with special needs.
But having a passion for kiddos, led me
here and I am extremely blessed to be able
to be apart of Jacob’s Ladder and make a
difference in these children’s lives. I get to
build personal connections when working
with a student one on one and watch my
student grow and progress in things they
used to not be able to do before is very
rewarding.
My Project
What I created:
I created a resource manual of the
developmental milestones in life for
parents to look for in their child. I
created this because it can be so
useful to Jacob’s Ladder because
there is a nursery on campus and for
any parents who are needing help in
what to look for at certain ages and
also because it may be their very first
child and may not know what to look
for.
• I hope this resource • I also want to get

by Jacob’s Ladder JL employees used

employees who student’s parents
have children that used it and if it was

to look for in
reaching the right
milestones for their
child.

Throughout my internship, I have learned so much about myself and what I am capable of. I
know that working with the special needs population can be hard and demanding at times,
but what is so rewarding is the staff members who are always there if I ever need help and
so positive and also the bond you build with your student. With this project I created, I
believe it can help so many parents out there and it is right there at there fingers tips so
they really have no excuse to help their child develop all the right milestones. I believe that
even if a student has a developmental delay and is not reaching a milestone at a certain
age, that I encourage them to immediately seek their doctors attention to act early so their
child can get the best help to overcome their delay. Again I'm so blessed to be apart of the
JL family and I cannot wait to be a teacher in the fall. I am excited to see where this journey
leads me. Thank you Dr. K for all your help and support throughout this internship
experience. I know we couldn't’t have done it without you!
