6, All India Prison Duty Meet Pune, Maharashtra: Probation Officers' Presentation Tamilnadu

This document summarizes a presentation given by probation officers in Pune, Maharashtra on treating crime as a social disease. The presentation discusses how probation officers can act as "social doctors" by examining the social factors that lead to crime, diagnosing the root causes, treating the individual through counseling and awareness creation, and ensuring the person does not reoffend through monitoring. It is argued that probation officers are well-positioned to break the vicious cycle of crime by understanding an offender's circumstances and helping reintegrate them into society.
