 Picture cards of animals that live in
water, hand lens, manila paper,
marker
 Observe the animals in the aquarium.
 Compare these animals as to their body covering, body part
use for breathing and for moving.
 Record your answer in the table below.

animals as you can in one
minute. The group with the
most number of animals listed
will be declare as winner.
 Why can these animals survive in

 Will they survive if they are placed on
another habitat like on land? Why?

 What is the importance of letting
them live in their natural habitat?
 Animals have body structures that help them adapt to water
Fish are covered with scales for protection from disease and from
other animals that live in water. Their scales are smooth and slimy,
arrange overlapping from head to tail so as the water slips smoothly as
it moves forward.
Shrimp and lobster are covered with outside skeleton or
exoskeleton while other animals like clams and mussels are covered
with shells.
Fish have gills for breathing underwater and fins for swimming.
 An adaptation is the structure or behavior that helps an organism
survive in its environment.
 Designand make a model of an
animal that has adaptations living for
living underwater. Use indigenous
materials if possible. Explain how
these adaptations would help the
animal meet its need.
