Introduction
 On-The-Job Training (OJT), as indicated in the term itself, is a mode
through which students are taught the skills, knowledge, and attitude
needed to perform a specific job within the workplace.

 OJTs provide students with real-life visual aids and interactions that
may lead to advanced learning outcomes.

 This is an opportunity for them to rigorously prepare themselves (i.e.


gain confidence and improve skills) for productive careers that they
may have after graduation.
Introduction

 The student-interns chose EMCOR Inc. Martelino branch as the


host agency because they believe that this agency can help them
gain confidence through face-to-face interactions with different
customers.

 The internship allows them to test and enhance their social skills
by conversing with costumers is what they think as fit in their
degree description.
Background of the company
 Jesus V. Del Rosario (JVR) founded EMCOR in 1958

 Originally under the name Engineering and Machinery Corporation,


mainly serving the logging industry in Mindanao, its main branch
is in Davao City

 EMCOR have 128 stores and a workforce of 1,700, it has become a


very strong player in the retail industry of motorcycles, home
appliances, furniture, computers and IT products.

 The EMCOR Inc., Martelino branch which is the host agency of the
student interns was founded in the year 1995.
Background of the company
 Brands that EMCOR works with are the following:
Department Details
 The student-interns were assigned in the sales department where
they directly deal with customers and help the sales representative
with some of their workloads.

 The interns assisted each customers who comes into the store and
asked them what they need and what kind of product they are
looking for.

 The interns have designated product department assigned by the


store manager, some of them were assigned in the motorcycles,
some are in the furniture and in the appliances.
OJT Objectives
 Enable the student to gain experience, relate and
apply the theories he/she learns in school to real
office situations and problems;

 Develop and instill a positive attitude, self-confidence


and self-motivation required of a responsible
professional in handling tasks; and

 Impress on the student the importance of human


relations in the working place or environment.
Expectations
 The student-interns expect that, what they have
learned from school can be practically applied in their
chosen host agency.

 The interns expect to acquire additional social skills


and improve them by having it practically applied.

 The interns expect that they were be able to improve


the way they deal with professionals in professional
setting and with customers who have different
attitudes.

 The interns expect that OJT may help them learn how
to work independently, make own decisions and do
things on their own but with a little guidance.

Here are the following things that the student-interns
learned during their internship at EMCOR Inc. Martelino
Branch:

 The interns learned how to solve the problem when


dealing with different customers attitude in their own
way but with a little guidance of work place
professionals without making it big.

 The interns learned that taking initiative when dealing


with different situation is important.
Learnings out of the Problem
 The interns learned that adapting to the workplace
environment made them comfortable on what they
are doing and it avoid hesitation when they need an
assistance from the work place employees.

 The interns learned that encountering a problem and


making mistakes in a work place made them grow
and improved.
