Anti Fibrinolytic Drug: Sakura, MD Department of Pharmacology Hasanuddin University

Anti-fibrinolytic drugs work by catalyzing the formation of plasmin from plasminogen to rapidly lyse thrombi. They include streptokinase, urokinase, tissue plasminogen activator, alteplase, and reteplase. Streptokinase is a protein made by streptococci that combines with plasminogen to activate plasminogen. Urokinase is a human enzyme synthesized by the kidneys. These drugs are used to treat multiple pulmonary embolisms, central deep venous thrombosis, acute myocardial infarction, and peripheral vascular disease, with streptokinase given at an initial dose of 250,000 units IV followed by 100,000 units for 24-
