Congenital Hydocoele:: Primary Hydrocele

Congenital hydocoele is an abnormal collection of serous fluid in the processus vaginalis, usually the tunica, allowing peritoneal fluid to accumulate. There are two main types: communicating hydroceles caused by a patent processus vaginalis from birth, and non-communicating hydroceles that develop later in life. Diagnosis involves finding fluid that can be moved around by palpation or transilluminated, with an impalpable testis. Treatment depends on the type, with communicating hydroceles often resolving on their own and non-communicating hydroceles sometimes requiring surgery like Lord's operation.
