4G Power Control Optimization

The document discusses improvements made to the closed loop power control algorithm in 4G networks. The algorithm now takes into account key performance indicators to better decide the power control correction. Setting the SINR and RSSI windows too high or low can negatively impact network interference levels, throughput, and power consumption depending on the load levels and locations of user equipment. The proposed changes aim to balance these tradeoffs.

4G Closed loop power control

Background
Closed loop uplink power control – RSSI and SINR window  Too high SINR settings may increase
Closed Loop Power Control network interference a lot
Algorithm is improved with consideration of certain system KPI’s which are taken into account when  Cell-edge UE’s are forced to use

LOW_LEV ulpcLowlevSch ulpcLowlevCch

throughput for UE’s in good
conditions
 Cell-center UE’s are forced to
lower down the power
