Diameter Protocol Introduction
 The Diameter protocol is an end-to-end
protocol. The SCTP is used to transmit
subscriber location information, subscription
data, and authentication data between the MME
and the HSS9860 over the IP network so that
the HSS9860 can manage locations, subscription
data, and authentication data.

 The Diameter protocol has two layers: basic

protocol layer and application layer.

Term Description
Domain A domain consists of multiple entities. It is
identified by domain names. A domain can consist
of multiple HSS9860s and Diameter agents.
Host name A host name identifies a Diameter entity. Generally,
it is in the format of host ID + domain name, for
example, HSS98601.huawei.com.cn.
Link set A link set is a group of links between two Diameter
entities. Only one link set can be configured
between two Diameter entities.
Link A link is configured between two Diameter entities.
Multiple links can be configured between two
Diameter entities, and these links belong to one link
set.
Diameter Like an IP route, the Diameter route is the selected
route links destined to a specified domain name or host
name.

Mapping Between the IMSIs and the
HSS9860s
 The mapping between the IMSIs and the HSS9860s is implemented
based on an IMSIHSS9860 table. In the IMSIHSS9860 table, mappings
between the IMSI prefixes and the HSS9860 domain names and host
names are configured. The mapping process is as follows:

Diameter Configuration Table
When the USN9810 functions as an MME, Diameter protocol layer
information needs to be configured for communicating with other NEs.
During the configuration, the following configuration tables are used:

SCTP Protocol Introduction
 The stream control transmission protocol (SCTP) is an IP-
based transmission layer protocol. It provides efficient
and reliable transmission of M2UA, M3UA, IUA, H.248, and
Diameter signaling.  Subscriber data is transmitted in
packets.

Reliable  Packets are transmitted inside

streams in sequence.

SCTP advantages
 Multi-homing is used.

 Cookie is used to ensure protocol

security for SCTP associations.
Secure  Streams inside an SCTP association
travel for data transmission without
interrupting each other.

Host: A host can have one ore more IP addresses configured.
A host is a typical physical entity.

Association: A stream is a path for transmitting
An association is a logical relationship or data in a single direction in an SCTP
