1) Dynamic shapes and shape sequences allow the creation of custom objects in HMI displays to present complex dynamic data through parameterization and animation.
2) The document provides step-by-step instructions for designing a dynamic shape to display the mode and current measurement of a one-way motor, including defining properties, grouping objects, and inserting the shape into a display.
3) A shape sequence example animates the on/off status of a motor by switching between two shapes based on the value of a PMD signal, following similar steps of object insertion, property definition, and inclusion in a dynamic shape and display.

Designing Dynamic HMIWeb Objects for Performance PURPOSE OF SHAPES
• A dynamic shape is, in effect, a "custom object" that is used in
displays to present complex dynamic data. – Dynamic objects based on dynamic shapes witch allows fast display design
Only parameter is TAG
name and department
• A shape sequence is, in effect,
a "custom object" that is used in displays as status Indicator or animation
Pulp, Paper, and Printing Overview
06-May-03 2 DYNAMIC SHAPE EXAMPLE 1/4 ONE-WAY MOTOR WITH MODE AND CURRENT MEASUREMENT
1. Insert new dynamic shape and add Tree PMD objects:
the desired objects - Mode - Motor1way - Numerical output
2. Define the shape custom properties
• Department • Block Default name and description Define the name of parameter ect. need not be defined. DEPT for department and TAG for block
Pulp, Paper, and Printing Overview
06-May-03 3 DYNAMIC SHAPE EXAMPLE 2/4 ONE-WAY MOTOR WITH MODE AND CURRENT MEASUREMENT 3. Activate the PMD object in object explorer and open the object properties window using right mouse button
4. Define the object properties in PMD
data tab. NOTE! Use the name parameter names as defined in step 2 for department and block.

06-May-03 5 DYNAMIC SHAPE EXAMPLE 4/4 ONE-WAY MOTOR WITH MODE AND CURRENT MEASUREMENT 5. Select all the objects and group them into one
6. Save the dynamic shape for example to
the ABSTRACT- folder. Ready made dynamic shape has sha-file extension.

06-May-03 6 INSERTING A DYNAMIC SHAPE INTO DISPLAY 1/2 ONE-WAY MOTOR WITH MODE AND CURRENT MEASUREMENT 1. Click the button in toolbar and move the pointer to the display and drag it diagonally to mark the rectangle where you want to insert the shape.
2. When you release the mouse
button, the Insert Shape dialog box appears. Select the shape file and open it.

06-May-03 7 INSERTING A DYNAMIC SHAPE INTO DISPLAY 2/2 ONE-WAY MOTOR WITH MODE AND CURRENT MEASUREMENT 3. Double click the inserted shape object and select ‘Custom properties’ tab
4. Define the department and
TAG-name.

06-May-03 8 SHAPE SEQUENCE EXAMPLE (1) ONE-WAY MOTOR
Following example helps to understand how to use shape sequence
1. Insert new shape sequence
Pulp, Paper, and Printing Overview
06-May-03 9 SHAPE SEQUENCE EXAMPLE (2) ONE-WAY MOTOR
Note! Shapes are not grouped together
2. Insert the static shapes .
In this example, when motor is running symbol is green circle and when motor is stopped, symbol is grey rectangle
Note! Both shapes must be
duplicated. Duplicated shape must be also be defined as ‘hidden’ in Properties/General tab.

06-May-03 10 SHAPE SEQUENCE EXAMPLE (3) ONE-WAY MOTOR
3. Define the shapes custom
properties for department and block
4. Save the shape sequence, e.g
shape1.sha

06-May-03 11 SHAPE SEQUENCE EXAMPLE (4) ONE-WAY MOTOR
5. Insert new dynamic shape
6. Insert the made shape sequence (shape1.sha)
into dynamic shape using – button.

06-May-03 12 SHAPE SEQUENCE EXAMPLE (5) ONE-WAY MOTOR
7. Activate the shape properties
and open ‘Behaviours’ tab. Mark the ‘Face Plate’ and ‘Shape Sequence Animation’

06-May-03 13 SHAPE SEQUENCE EXAMPLE (6) ONE-WAY MOTOR
8. Open ‘PMD Data’ tab. Define
the desired signal in application. in this example , motor run information (rng-pin) is defined
Note! Use the same department (DEPT1) and
block names (BLOCK) as earlier

9. Define the overall dynamic shape
properties in ‘Custom Properties’ tab
Note! Use the same department (DEPT1) and
block names (BLOCK) as earlier
10. Save the dynamic shape, e.g. motsha.sha

06-May-03 15 SHAPE SEQUENCE EXAMPLE (8) ONE-WAY MOTOR
11. Open new display and insert the
dynamic shape (motsha.sha) into display using - button.
12. Define the object properties,
department and application block in ‘Custom Properties’ tab
13. Save the display
