Design of Reinforced Concrete Building

This document summarizes the seismic analysis and design of a 10-story reinforced concrete building. It includes the building layout, purpose, design considerations for live and dead loads, load combinations, modeling in STAAD.Pro, and analysis of axial forces, shear forces, moments, and time history analysis. The time history analysis used a portion of the El Centro earthquake acceleration record due to software limitations. The analysis determined maximum values for forces and stresses in the building.

TIME HISTORY ANALYSIS
• STAAD.Pro v8i cannot handle the entire time duration (t =
72 secs; 18,432 data points) for the time history analysis.
• For the simulation, only time t = 25 to t = 30 secs (1,302
data points) are used due to limited software capability.
• t = 25 to t = 30 secs is the time duration with maximum
acceleration.
• The number of mode shapes considered = 5 modes
• Damping Coefficient = 5%
