Community Definitions in Social Science

A community is defined from a social science perspective as a set of interactions and shared behaviors, values, and meanings between individuals. It has loosely defined boundaries and communities can exist within other communities. An institutional perspective views a community not just as a collection of houses but as a human and social organization. A civil society perspective sees a community as including citizens who participate in elections and advocate for rights, with organizations representing public opinion.
