8T Soft Split Makes Resource Duplex
Soft Split Resource Duplex
Soft split was first introduced in eRAN TDD 11.1. Intra-
frequency soft split is a software-based TDD 6-cell solution,
and therefore can significantly expand cell capacity without
additional hardware, frequency spectrum, or sites.

Analysis on 2300 8T8R(with soft split) Evolution Part 1
RRU
1. If existing has L2300 4T4R,:
1) Before 2019Q1, please replace existing 4T4R RRU to 8T8R RRU5258.
2) After 2019Q1, add RRU3276 to combine with existing RRU to support 8T8R; and additional External Calibration Module(2019Q1 GA).
2. If existing site without L2300 4T4R, add 8T8R RRU5258.
3. Add Boost Voltage DC distribution box(with 2 BDU modules) to support RRU5258. One box can support 3 RRUs.
BBU:
4. If existing MPT is not UMPTb2/UMPTb9, change to UMPTb9 to support TDD.
5. Standalone UBBPe4 board for LTE2300 8T8R. 1*UBBPe4 support 3 x 20 MHz 8T8R LTE cells or 6 x 20MHz 8T8R soft split LTE cell. Add UBBPe4 if existing UBBP is not enough.
6. UPEU: 2 UPEUc or 1 UPEUd. If not meet, add 1 UEPUd
Antenna:
7. If existing site have 2 antennas per sector, one for 900 only, one for 1800/2100; Replace 900MHz antenna to be 12 port antenna ATR4518R29v06 to support 900+2300 8T8R for
future evolution.
8. In other case, add 9 port antenna to support 2300 8T8R only.
Cabinet
9. If existing site cabinet is ver.D or above, no need to change. If verA/B/C, suggest order new cabinet to replace existing cabinet.

Power Cable
1) For RRU5258,
use 5.3mm^2 Power Cable when the length is 0~70m and 8.2mm^2 Power Cable when the length is 71~100m in standard pole scenario.
use 5.3mm^2 Power Cable when the length is 0~80m and 8.2mm^2 Power Cable when the length is 81~100m in long distance scenario.
2) For RRU3276,
use 3.3mm^2 Power Cable when the length is 0~60m and 5.3mm^2 Power Cable when the length is 61~100m in standard pole scenario.
use standard Power Cable solution for long distance scenario.
3) Other Auxiliary material follow standard RRU5258 auxiliary material solution.
Software Version
4) To support the soft split function, software version required is SRAN 13.1.
