Synopsis of the course

• The course examines the foundation of philosophical, historical,


psychological and sociological foundations of curriculum;
curriculum development, design, aims, goals, objectives,
implementation and evaluation; curriculum issues and trends;
instructional approaches, direct instruction, guided discovery
instruction and pure discovery instructions; pedagogy and teaching
models; and basic concepts of curriculum and instruction in special
and preschool education.

Objective of the course

To provide learners with the:


• knowledge about fields, domains, approaches and theories of
curriculum.
• understanding about essentials foundation of curriculum and its
relationship to curriculum dynamism.
• understanding about models of instruction and instructional
improvement through supervisory leadership.
• application of concepts of curriculum and instruction in preschool,
special and gifted education

At the end of the course, the students should be able to:

LO 1 compare and contrast fields, domains, approaches and theories of


curriculum;
LO 2 analyse on philosophical, historical, psychological and sociological
foundations of curriculum, and its relation application to curriculum
development and design;
LO 3 illustrate on curriculum development, implementation, evaluation,
issues and trends;
LO 4 design models of instruction;
LO 5 apply concepts of curriculum and instruction in preschool and special
