IT, CULTURE, AND THE

SOCIETY
The Impact of IT on the Society

 Internet of Things (IoT) – set-up of

devices and objects which are connected
together in a given network

 Automation – the state of being operated

automatically
Capabilities of IoT
1.) Integration across technology and business

The use of sensors to help improve business

processes.

Example ani is mga automated machines for

manufacturing and security systems. Are you
familiar with IP cams? That’s also one example.
Connected sa internet and mga cameras para if
you want to access or look into it, ma-manipulate
na nimo siya via internet.
2.) Data analysis and synchronization

Example for this is mga companies na

nagarely sa mga data na na-gather nila
thru their consumers para magwork ang
ilang company.
3.) Security and service

Since all devices are connected in one

network, data collected are at risk. With
the use of IoT, capable siya if kinsa lang
pwede ang mag access sa particular
device or maprevent niya if naay mga
unauthorized access.
Applications of IoT
 Smart Cities
 Connected Industries
 Connected Buildings
 Connected cars
 Smart energy
Automation

 Robotic Process Automation – the

application of technology that allows
employees in a company to configure
computer software or a robot to capture
and interpret existing applications for
processing a transaction.
Applications of Automation
 Process Automation

Basically business processes or any

processes na manually ginabuhat dati but
with the use of technology, automatic na
karon. Example is ang payroll system.
Instead of manually computing pila ang
net pay sa isa ka employee dati, computer
na ang magbuhat para sa imo.
 IT Support Management

So with the use of automation, easy nalang

for IT support na ma-identify if naay
problems sa network or mga devices sa isa
ka establishment. Example is if naay maguba
na server sa DDC dati, manually ginalocate
kung asa dapit. But now, with the use of this
innovation, sa computer nalang namo i-
locate kung asa ang problem.
 Automated Assistants

Best example is si Siri. Instead of human

ang mag answer sa atong concerns, they
developed machine learning para ang mga
devices maka understand ug human
language.
 Sensors – are hardware devices that
have the capability to measure an event,
object, or any physical quality that is
happening.
Types of sensors
 Temperature sensors – detect temperature
 Infrared sensors – detects in infrared lights. (Kana
ganing laser na pag ma-igo ka kay mag trigger ug
alarm)
 Ultrasonic sensors – detect sound waves
 Touch sensors – detects through touch
 Proximity sensors – detect objects within a certain
range
 Pressure sensors – detect liquids or granular materials
 Smoke/Gas sensors – detect presence of dangerous
fumes
Influence of IT on Culture
 Online Reviews

With the proliferation of online information, it is

easy to find details on a certain movie or book.

So with online reviews, na-change ang atong

decision-making. Kung dati magbuy kag product,
wala kay idea kung unsa iyang quality, kung worth
it ba or unsa pa dira. Karon, before ka magbuy,
naa nay mga online reviews para maghatag ug
tips or options sa imo.
 Weblogging/Social Media

Before vlogs, there is this thing called

blogging. Via text or image lang ilang way
sa pagshare sa ilang mga adventures or
experiences. Karon, via video na. Then
karon, pag magkaon sa resto, take dayon
picture sa food tapos upload sa instagram
with the hashtag #foodporn #ilovefood
 Youtube learners

So karon, dili lang google or mga books

ang way para makalearn. With youtube,
almost all topics naa na didto. Tutorials,
mga tips, documentaries, etc. So daghan
nag options para maka gain ug additional
knowledge.
Influence on Social Behavior
 Cyberbullying – is an unwanted, hostile
behavior done by individuals to other
people in the hope of gaining control
over them.

Basically bullying with the use of

technology and done online.
 Netiquette – is a combination of the
words internet and etiquette. It
describes how one should act online.

So kung kita mga citizens naay ginafollow

na etiquette on how we interact with
others, sa internet or social media naa tay
netiquette. Basically mga rules na
applicable online and dapat i-follow.
