Cherry Blossom ( Sakura Flower ) well-known symbol of Japan


and are frequently depicted on traditional Japanese goods and
art.
Description
Cherry Blossom Tree is a tree belonging to familia Rosaceae,genus Prunus
similiar to plums,peaches,or apricots. Cherry Blossoms are classified into 3
types based of petals:
1. Single flower with petals
2. Double flowers with petals
3. Semi double flowers
The most popular cherry blossom in Japan is the Somei Yoshino, which has
nearly pure white petals, with a hint of pink close to the stem. This variety
of cherry blossom takes its name from the village of Somei (now part of
Toshima in Tokyo). In Japan,the flowering Cherry Blossom types Somei
Yoshino starts from Okinawa in February and ends in Hokkaido at the
time oof Golden Week Holiday.
Characteristic of cherry Blossom types Somei Yoshino is the first flower to bloom before the
leaves start to come out. Tens,hundreds even thousands of trees that are in the location,the
flowers begin to bloom simultaneously and fall off one by one at the same time.

Types Somei Yoshino can only last approximately 7 to 10 days counted from the flower
buds open until the flowers began to fall. The fall of Cherry blossoms depending on
weather condition and often accelerated by heavy rain and strong winds.

But types Yama Zakura a bloom more slowly than other types and flowers bloom along
with the release of the young leaves.
Cherry Blossoms can be used as food but the processed first.
Cherry blossoms also has a unique flavor and makes food
look nice. Cherry blossom is one of the classics in food stuffs
Japan.
