PROBLEM STATEMENT
Demand for parking infrastructure,
Presently, 10 lakh bikes (approx.) are being sold every year,
Construction of more parking lots are expensive,
Bikes being parked outside results in congestion and traffic jam.
WHY MULTI-LAYERED PARKING?
Optimal utilization of space,
Lower maintenance and operational cost,
Secured and eco-friendly,
Lower construction cost comparatively,
Comfortable for users.
HARDWARE USED
Stand to hold the vehicle,
Springs according to size of the wheel,
Guide-ways,
Lead screw,
3 stepper motors.

METHODOLOGY
PRESENT PARKING CONDITION
Non-uniform parking system,
Congestion,
Large vacant area available,
Damage of vehicles,
Possibility for thefts,
More pollution
PREDICTED POSSIBILITIES
Let us consider an arbitrary parking area of 81 x 45 m,
Area= 81*45=3645m^2
Average number of bikes parked in this area = 250
45
Commercial value of land per m^2 in metro cities are
very high.
For the same area as explained before, number of bikes
can be thrice based on the rack numbers.
81
Definitely, there will be a percentage increase in the
parking area.
BENEFITS
Simple structure and simple operation,
Saves space, time and money,
Prevents theft activities,
Secured environment,
Low fee,
More number of bikes parked in less area,
No noise,
Speedy system,
Can be constructed in all residential areas.
BUDGET
Cost of Mild Steel C section = Rs.1500 (approx.)
Cost of 8 Helical spring = 250 x 8 = Rs.2000 (approx.)
Rubber pads = Rs.300 (approx.)
Rollers & socket = Rs.500 (approx.)
Total budget = Rs.5000 (approx.)
CONCLUSION
Important factor in metro cities,
Ideal solution for today’s parking problem,
With the use of sensors the system can also be automated without the human
intervention,
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology can be implemented to
reduce the response time.
