Objectives of Family Health Nursing

General Principles of Family Health Nursing
1. Family health nursing is family focused
2. Must establish good working relationship with
the family
3. FHN is part of family health care services and is
based on identified family health and nursing
needs
4. Family relates to community where it lives and
depends on community in various ways
5. Family health nursing services should be
realistic in terms of resources available
6. Family as a units responsible for their members
health and has a right to make healthcare
decision
7. Health education , guidance and
supervision are integral part of family
health nursing
8. Continuous services are effective
services
9. Effective system of record and report of
family health nursing services is essential
10. Periodic and continuous appraisal and
evaluation of family health services are
basic to family health nursing care.
11. FHN services should be rendered to
all families without any discrimination
Role of CH Nurse in family Health
 Health teacher:
 Coordinator, collaborator, and liaison.
 Deliverer and supervisor of care and technical expert.
 Family advocate.

 Case finder and epidemiologist.
 Environmental modifier.
