INTRODUCTION
 There are several sectors in Bangladesh on which we can be proud of and
undoubtedly the pharmaceutical sector is one of these sectors.
 Some companies have already certified by different international regulatory
authorities like-UK-MHRA, Australia-TGA,EU etc for quality management
and quality products manufacturing.
 Drug manufacturing company-
 Allopathic Company no-263
 209 companies which are functional
 29 companies which are nonfunctional
 25 companies which are suspended in status
HISTORY
 In 2000,there were 210 licensed allopathic drug
manufacturing units in the country out of which 173 were in
active product.
 This pharma sector started to improve from 1980s.•
 National drug policy in 1982 and 2005 had major impact in
the development and growth of the pharmaceutical industry.
 After 1990s,some of the companies started producing insulin,
hormone and cancer combating drugs those were not
previously produced in the country.

CONTRIBUTION OF DRUG INDUSTRY
IN ECONOMY IN BANGLADESH
 ACI in enriched with GMP certification from-
Kenya,Ivory Coast, Philippines.
 Our pharmaceuticals are exported to 30 countries of 4
continents.
 Square pharma started to export different antibiotics
and medicine across the world from 1987. Now it
exports it's medicine to 36 countries of the world.
 Eskayef pharma exported it's products to 21 countries
across of 4 continents.
METHOLOGY OF THE
STUDY

 Utilized both primary and secondary data


 Primary data collected from discussion with 110 concerned
executive of different pharmaceuticals companies, top level
officials of different pharmaceuticals company, officials of
directorate of drug administration, and interviewing the
customers of the drug.
 Secondary data collected from website, annual reports of different
pharmaceutical firm, important research paper, magazine,
relevant books newspaper, journals etc.
RESULT AND
DISCUSSION
Product-
There were 237 licenced allopathic drug manufacturer
 Among them 137 actively produce medicine
 Producing 5600 brand of medicine
 There are 1495 wholesale
 Around 37,700 retail drug

Anti -infective is the largest therapeutic class of locally produced


medicinal drug.
MARKETING
Marketing is a process by which company create value for
customer and build strong customer relationship in order to
capture value from customer in return.
Major criteria of marketing sector :
 Medical representative are key person in marketing
 For promotion, doctor & surgeon are targeted
 Special incentives are given to the doctor
 Major promotional strategies include printed promotional
material, physical sample & clinical materials.
HUMAN RESOURCES
Human resources are people-
 Recruited in the organization
 Targeted as the prime mover
 An important elements for success of any organization
 The sector consistently create job opportunities.
 Pharmaceutical companies contribute standard of health care &
standard of living.
Pharmaceutical industry believes that the human resources are most
valuable asset for organization

DEVELOPMENT
 Subsystem of organization
 Training is a skill enhancement process for non-managerial jobs
 Development is a skill enhancement process for managerial jobs

In development ,There has a broader scope and may not only be focused on present
job but also organizations

Exporting
 Exports are a transferring process of goods from one country to
another.
 Medicine are promising sector
 Bangladesh are being export medicine into 151 countries,
including UK,USP .
 Netherlands and Denmark are the biggest importers
 Beximco Pharmaceuticals are leading exporters to the US,
received US FDA
Barrier
 Companies does not meet the agency’s requirements for
marketing USA .
 Bangladesh could not export the expected amount of
 pharmaceutical products due to some political issues
IMPORTING
 High dependency on imports for raw materials is major
challenge .
 Imports 99.5% mainly from China and India .
 In 2018 ,this sector is expected to grow at 15% year–on
–year to reach $ 5.11 billion by 2023 .
 API park
 Earn $ 23.8 billion global market
 Imported drugs are :Sevoflurane, Clarithromycine, anti –
cancer drugs etc
FOREIGN
COMPETITION
 Foreign competition made the country firms more eligible to face challenges
 At the beginning the foreign pharmaceuticals were dominating the marketing in our country .
 Among these competitors Roche ,Glaxo ,Smithkline ,Novartis .Novartis was playing most
dominant role.
 Now ,our industry is not afraid of this foreign competition
 And local industries does not face any rigorous problem in foreign country.
DAMPING
 Damping is a situation when in which a company sells its
products at lower price than the market price to capture the
market share.
 For example, Top Pharmaceutical company sold some Indian
medicine in the country market at a lower price than Bangladeshi
medicine but the medicine of developed countries & their origin
country are sold in a competitive price.
CUSTOMER CHOICE
 Customer is a person who buy the product as well as consumes the product.
 Choice depends on customer’s reliance upon company.
 Customer usually prefer some foreign medicine in case of sensetive problem.
