Fajardo, A Study On Individual Perceptions of Road Traffice Noise

This study investigated individual perceptions of road traffic noise in Manila, Philippines. It measured noise levels at three sites that exceeded Philippine standards and surveyed individuals about their awareness and perceptions. The results showed 96% overall awareness of road traffic noise as a nuisance that has detrimental health effects. Noise levels ranged from 75-89dB depending on the site. The study recommends adopting stricter noise standards, enforcement, educational programs for drivers, and noise abatement measures.
