Light Cruiser
Light Cruiser is a (.NET) client designed to provide operators
and engineers with basic alarm management capabilities for
monitoring alarms.

• The client is a basic version of


TEOCO’s Helix FM Cruiser rich
client, which is used for real-time
network alarms management,
commonly used in CSPs
NOC/SOC.
• To access Light Cruiser, click the
Helix Launcher to display the
favorite application icons, and
then click Light Cruiser

Light Cruiser – Key Features
• Alarms Management – Various alarm management functionalities,
such as acknowledgement and adding notes.

• Alarms View Filters – Simple and advanced tools for filtering the
alarms displayed in the alarms folder.

• Alarm Preview – The alarm preview pane presents important alarm


attributes defined by the system administrator and by the user.

• Alarm Notifications – Notifications of alarms that correspond to


alarm notification criteria defined for the entire system, specific user
group or specific user.

• Alarm History Log – Auditing of alarms’ life cycle historical events.

Master Mode – Active Alarms
The Active Alarms master mode displays a list of alarms, which are
active in the system or in a cleared status for a predefined period of time.

• The alarms are displayed in the alarm table according to the


criteria of the selected folder.
• It enables you to monitor authorized alarms by any criteria, and to
perform different actions on the alarms according to security definitions.

The Alarm Preview Pane
The Alarm Preview pane presents alarm attributes and includes detailed
information regarding the selected alarm which is divided by categories.

• The upper part of the pane which presents default alarm attributes,
which are divided into the following groups:
• Icons and Time Up
• Location
• Diagnostics

• Each user can customize the Alarm Preview pane, by adding or


removing alarm attributes.
• Different attributes can be set for each alarm folder according to
the relevant context

Refreshing the Alarms Information
You have the option of refreshing alarm information in the following
way (using the Refresh section in the Tools tab):

• Auto Refresh – The alarm information is updated


automatically according to a predefined period of time.

Alarms Investigation Tools
To investigate the alarms, Light Cruiser provides you the
following information screens and tools:

• Alarm/s search tool.


• Current alarm instance information screens.
• Quick access to external applications.
• Quick access to web links and executable links.
• Alarm notifications.

Alarms Search Box
It is possible to add a search box, as part of the alarm folder layout.

• The search results are presented in the Active Alarm table and
presented as a list of alarms corresponding to the search criteria and
the selected folder.

Accessing Alarm Information Window
The Alarm Information window enables you to view alarm
attributes and additional information of the alarm.

• To access the Alarm Information window with the alarm details tab
displayed, double-click the alarm.
• In addition, you can access directly specific tabs of the window using:
• Alarm Context pop-up menu
• Alarm Info section in the Home tab

Viewing the Alarm History Log
Alarm Event History window displays the list of historical
events that correspond to the specific alarm instance.

For each event in the window,


you can open the Alarm
Information window.

Accessing External Applications
From Light Cruiser (Tools menu) you can launch external
applications using the alarm attributes of a selected alarm:

• Configuration Information – Opens the Network Configuration Viewer.


• TrafficGuard – View threshold crossing events.
• Inspector – Opens the Inspector application. If the current alarm has a
KPI attached, Inspector provides information regarding this specific KPI.
• Site View – Opens the Site View application.

Alarms Notifications
Alarms Notifications pop-up window corresponds to a specific
alarm notification criteria defined for the entire system.

• The notification message will appear for a predefined period of time


at the bottom right side of the application window.

• The notification message is accompanied with a notification sound


that was previously defined by the system administrator.
• The alarm notification message and sound can be disabled
from the Tools tab.

Alarms Notifications Pop-up Window
The notification message displays the severity, Logic ID and
description of the alarm.

• It is possible to open Alarm Information window for notified


alarm by clicking on the notification message.
• You can scroll between the notifications by clicking on the < > arrows.

Alarms Management Tools
Alarms Management Tools
You have the option of performing the following
main actions on alarms:

• Acknowledging / Un-acknowledging alarms


• Deferring / Undeferring alarms
• Adding work logs
• Manually clearing an alarm

Performing Actions
Performing actions on alarms, for most actions,
can be done via three types of methods:

• Quick Access toolbar

• Alarm Context menu

• Home tab (ribbon menu)

Alarm Tables Supported Operations
The following operation can be performed on the entire alarm
table or on partial segments (group of alarms):

• Export alarms to file


• Print alarms
• Copy alarms or specific alarm attributes to an external application

Printing and Exporting Alarm Tables
From the TEOCO logo pop-up menu (located at the top-left
side) you can:

• Print an alarm table

• Export an alarm table


• To Excel
• To HTML
• To PDF

Alarm Filtering Tools
Alarm Filtering Tools
Light Cruiser provides several tools, in different complexity
levels, to filter the alarms displayed in the alarm table:

• Quick Filter – Filter the alarm display based on a specific


column values.

• Status Filter – Filter the alarm display based on different


alarm statuses.

• Named Filter – Define and save criteria-like advanced filter


conditions, activated in addition to the folder’s criteria.

Quick Filter – Filtering Column Values
Using Quick Filter you can filter a column by the list of available
values in the table that are relevant for selected column.

• The Custom option enables you perform


more advanced filter selection using the
Custom AutoFilter window.

Status Filters
Status Filters (Filter tab) provide an ability to easily filter the
alarm table of the specific folder by alarm parameters.

• The logical relation between all status filters is AND.


• To reset all status filters use the corresponding option.

Named Filters
Light Cruiser allows you to define a filter and save it with a name.

• The filter can be used in any folder, and is an addition to any criteria
defined by the folder.
• You can define and save multiple filters.

Creating and Saving Named Filters
After you type a filter name and fill in the relevant criteria, you can
click the Save button to add the new filter to the Named Filters List.

Using Named Filters
To view the available named filters, click the Named Filter icon
from the Filter tab or from the active tab.

• You can view both available


and already in use filters.

• From the available list, select the


criteria that you want to filter.

• You can apply multiple filters on a displayed folder.


• When selecting more than one filter for a specific tab, the filters
are joined using an AND operator.

Using Named Filters (cont.)
• When a named filter is activated:
• The filters icon is colored orange.
• When hovering the Named Filter button, a tooltip displaying the
filters in use is displayed.

• You can use the Reset Status Filter button to reset the active
filters.
