America's Rise As An Empire

America has emerged as a modern empire through a series of imperialist actions over the past centuries. The roots of American imperialism began with the colonization of Native Americans 500 years ago. The US later sought new international markets for its growing industrial economy. Major events like the atomic bombings of Japan in WWII, the Vietnam War during the Cold War, and conspiring with mujahideen against Russia in Afghanistan expanded America's global power and influence. More recently, the 9/11 terrorist attacks and subsequent wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have further cemented America's status as today's dominant empire, though its future is uncertain as imperial overreach fuels increased terrorism worldwide.
