The Collector of Treasures

The document discusses the historical and social changes in Botswana over three time periods: before independence, during colonial rule, and after independence. Historically, traditions and taboos tightly controlled people before independence. Colonialism broke up families and traditions but also enriched life. After independence, salaries increased and more jobs became available. Socially, men were traditionally seen as superior, though some created chaos while others empowered themselves. Neighbors helped each other despite other social issues like sexual exploitation.
