Overheating Protection
Single Phasing Issue
If the condition of single phasing arises during the running of
motor, the winding of motor gets heated due to the negative
sequence current in the faulted phase.
Two phases of three phase induction motor will get power
supply in single phasing condition and they produce negative
sequence current in the faulted phase.
Overheating in Motor
Overloading of the three phase induction motor
can produce hot spot within the winding, which
may exceed the thermal limits of motor.
Induction motor has a relatively large heat
storage capacity, so a short period overload
cannot damage the motor windings because a
large part of heat is stored in the core.
In the case of locked rotor condition the current
rises very rapidly, the winding insulation
thermal level may reach to its limit within
seconds.

Protection System
In a scenario of fault occurrence of single
phasing the motor will be detached from
the three phase supply and the two phases
are connected with the three phase rectifier.
The two phases will be rectified once they
