Definitions
Diagnosis: The art or act of identifying a disease from its signs and
symptoms.
Pathology: is a branch of medical science primarily concerning the cause,
origin and nature of disease.
The aspects of illness that may be studied include cellular pathology, cell
necrosis or cell death, wound healing, cancer formation and
inflammation.
It involves the examination of tissues, organs, bodily fluids and autopsies
in order to study and diagnose disease.

Signs and symptoms are abnormalities that can indicate a potential
medical condition.
• A symptom is subjective, that is, apparent only to the patient (for
example back pain or fatigue),
• A sign is any objective evidence of a disease that can be observed
by others (for example a skin rash or lump).
Molecular diagnostics is referred to as the detection of Nucleic acid
variants (DNA / RNA), aiming to facilitate detection, diagnosis, sub-
classification, prognosis, and monitoring response to therapy.
