1. BALIK SCIENTIST LAW (RA. 11035)

▪ signed by President Duterte last June 15, 2018


▪ The Act would give more incentive to returning Filipino experts, scientists,
inventors and engineers who would share their expertise in the country.
▪ Helps in encouraging Filipino scientists to return to the country and contribute to
improve the nation and peoples lives.
▪ addresses the low number of scientists in the country so we can fair better with our
neighboring countries in Asia who have more people working in research and
development.

2. PHILIPPINE SPACE ACT (RA 11363 )

▪ The act governs the country’s space development and utilization policy.
▪ The law situated Philippine Space Agency (PHILSA) in the Clark Economic
Zone of Manila, and the people behind the law hopes that the facility will be
ready before the Duterte administration ends in 2022.
▪ DOST hopes that the establishment of the PHILSA will and can encourage
Filipino space scientists abroad to return back to the country, as well as trying to
inspire young Filipinos to shift from careers or professions related to space.

3. DIWATA 2 ( PHILIPPINE MADE
MICROSATELLITE)
▪ The Philippines ‘ second microsatellite designed and
developed by Filipino scientists and engineers under the
PHL – Microsat Program.
▪ It was launched into space on October 29, 2018 carried
by Japan’s H- II A F40 rocket from the Tanegashima
Space Center.
▪ It is capable of capturing images of the earth for
environmental assessment, monitor natural and cultural
heritage sites and changes in vegetation, weather
forecasting to observe cloud patterns and weather
disturbances.

KIT
▪ An affordable and locally developed rapid test
kit for accurate detection of dengue infection
within an hour
▪ Results to less admissions of dengue suspected
cases which saves resources
▪ Created by experts from the Institute of
Molecular Biology and Biotechnology , National
Institutes of Health, UP Manila led by Dr Raul
Destura

5. HazardHunterPH (DISASTER MITIGATION APP)
▪ Developed by GeoRiskPH a multi agency
initiative together with the Philippine Institute
of Volcanology and Seismology funded by the
DOST
▪ The app states a locations’ risk for volcanic
eruptions, tsunamis and other hazards.
▪ Helpful for anyone who wants to/planning to
put up establishments.
▪ Accessible through mobile phones or computers
