Located in between Southeast Asia and


Oceania, the island of Timor is part of Maritime
Southeast Asia, and is the largest and easternmost of
the Lesser Sunda Islands.

The bunak houses in east


Timor have large conical
designs.

The fataluku houses, on the


other hand, are tall and
elongated and are stilt
supports.

Tais which is made mainly by women’s


showcase the fascinating ancient
traditions of the East Timorese.

The tais is made into traditional dresses


1. Tais mane- It is for the men which is
wrapped around the man’s waist and
usually has tassel finishing
2. Tais Feto- It is for the woman which
is tube-like, strapless dress.
3. Selendeng – which is a slender cloth
worn around the neck.

Likurai – It is an example of
an East Timorese dance is
Tentun dance – It is performed
to welcome warriors who have
returned home from battle.
Tebedai – It is another
traditional dance which is
performed throughout East
Timor.

It is a small equatorial country on the northern


coast of the island of Borneo in Southeast
Asia.

 Art in Brunei has influences from its
neighboring countries.
 Brunei handicrafts include the
following:
 silverwork
 brass work
 weaving
 kris-making
 songkok or Malay-style cap making
 tudung dulang, or traditional food
covering weaved from nipa leaves.

Spirituality is also an important


theme in Brunei traditional art and this
is evident in many of the artworks and
architectural objects.
Mask serves to “catch the soul”
Mask are also made because people
from Brunei believe that when people
are asleep or unconscious, their souls
can escape from their physical bodies.

The beads are used to decorate clothing, hats, and


other times such as the a ba, which is a traditional
baby carrier.
Metal is an important material in Brunei traditional
art
The Brunei is known for its brass work in
traditional crafts.
