SmartWatch
A smartwatch is
a wearable
computer in the
form of a watch;
modern
smartwatches
provide a local
touchscreen
 interface for daily
use, while an
associated
smartphone app
provides for
management and
telemetry.
Early years
The first digital watch,
which debuted in 1972, was
the Pulsar manufactured by
Hamilton Watch Company.
"Pulsar" became a brand
name which would later be
acquired by Seiko in 1978.
In 1982, a Pulsar watch (NL
C01) was released which
could store 24 digits, making
it most likely the first watch
with user-programmable
memory, or "memorybank"
watch.
Market and popularity
Smartwatches have risen in
popularity during the 2010s. They
are often used as fitness trackers
but also as smartphone
entertainment or communication
"companions” . Globall
smartwatch shipments counted
14 million in the third quarter of
2019 Ass of 2019 the market
leader was Apple, followed by
Samsung, Imoo, Fitbit, Amazfit,
Huawei, Fossil and Garmin.
Smartwatches for
children
In China, since around 2015, smartwatches have
become widely used by schoolchildren. They are
advertised on television throughout China as a safety
device whereby the child can call in case of
emergency. The devices are commonly colorful and
made of plastic. They normally have no display
unless a button is pushed. These smartwatches have
limited capability compared to other smartwatches;
their main functions consist of being able to conduct
calls, displaying of time, and sometimes have air
temperature sensitivity. They cost around $100 to
US$200.
Advantages
• Ease of use.
• It is possible to quickly find a lost phone, if it is within the
support of Bluetooth. When the device is located, the smart
  watch emits a characteristic sound.
• You can call through a smart watch, even if the smartphone
is dead. A very convenient function for emergencies.
• Control of your own health. The gadget helps to calculate
the calories spent, keep the pulse under control, provide
  information about the kilometers traveled.
• The ability to take photos, record the necessary moments
on a voice recorder, if there is no phone at hand.
• The ability to track the location of children and always know
  where they are.
Disadvantages
• A smart watch is a regular extension of a smartphone that
performs almost the same properties. In addition, for the
full functioning of the device, mandatory synchronization
with a smartphone is required, otherwise many functions of
  the gadget will not work.
• The main purpose of the watch, that is, information about
the time, is available only when the device is on the hand,
and in other cases this function does not work.
• Some models need regular charging, the battery in the
device may run out several times a day with active use.
• In case of a breakdown, users are waiting for an expensive
repair. Most often, the owners have problems with the
screen, the replacement of which costs very expensive.
• You can make calls from the device, however, in order to
find the right contact, you will have to search for it on a
small screen. In such cases, it is easier to find it in your
phone and make a call to the right person.
