The Importance of Comuters in The 21st Century

Computers are now essential tools that are used in nearly every field. A brief history noted that early computers took up entire buildings to complete basic tasks like census data processing, whereas now vast computing power is available via smartphones. Computers provide accuracy, speed, data storage and enable complex calculations. They are critical in fields like banking, communication, weather prediction, education, and healthcare. However, overreliance on computers can have disadvantages like wasting time on distractions, creating short attention spans from constant multitasking, limiting independent learning, and potential loss of privacy if personal data is compromised.

What is a computer

A computer is a machine that
can be programmed
to carry out sequences of computation or logical
operations automatically. Ultramodern computer
s
can perform general sets of operations known as
programs. These programs enable computers
to perform a wide range of tasks.
Computers now a days are usually:

SECURE ACCESSIBLE FAST AND RELIABLE

Brief History
The computer was born not
for entertainment or dispatch but out of
a need to break a serious number- scraping extre
mity. By 1880, the U.S.
population had grown so large that
it took more than seven years to tabulate the U.S.
Census results.
The government sought a faster way to get the
 job done, giving rise to
punch- card based computers
that took up entire apartments.
Today, we carry further computing power on our
smartphones than was available in
these early models.
“To err is human, but to really foul
things up you need a computer.”

—Paul R. Ehrlich
Why are Computers so Important
Computers are electronic device used in almost every field even where it is most unexpected.
At this day and age, we cannot imagine a world without computers, they have become this
important thanks to their accuracy, speed and their ability to accomplish many tasks faster than a
human ever could, they’re also able to do very complex calculations in just a fraction of a
second. Moreover, computers can store huge amounts of data. In the mid 1990s computers were
only used by the government and army because at that time using computer was a complicated
task.
When the microprocessor was invented computers got smaller in size but very easy for people to
use.
Some examples of fields that rely on computers:

Banks:
Every single bank is using computers to keep record of all the
money transaction and other calculations. Moreover, it provides
speed, convenience and security.

Communication:

Communication is another important aspect of computers and has become

very easy through the internet. Computers communicate using telephone
lines and modems and the process of doing so is extremely simple, fast,
and easy.

Weather Predictions:
Weather predictions are also made possible by the experts using
supercomputers.
Some examples of fields that rely on computers:

Education:
Today computers have become an important part of education, as
we are using computers in every field there is, and without
enough knowledge of computers we cannot get jobs nor perform
well in them. So, computers can secure better job prospects.
Knowing how to use a computer is must in this time.

Health Care

Disease are much easier to diagnose with the help of a computer.

Also finding cures to new diseases goes way faster with the help of
computers.

span and too much
multitasking
Time sink and lots of distractions:
Although a computer can be a great creation to increase your productivity, it can also be harmful in terms
of wasting too much time. For example, you are learning about any particular topic and see another
interesting link, such as an online game Ad. Then, you click on the link and spend more time playing
games. After two hours, you realize you have wasted your time and not achieved your original goal.
Furthermore, you can get distracted while trying to work with the popularity of social networks and
their notifications.

Short attention span and too much multitasking:

Today, almost everyone has become hooked on instant gratification with computers, computer devices, and
the Internet. It has become a reason to use a computer every day. As you surf the Internet and ask any
question, you immediate get the answers to your questions, that could make you habituated to getting a
quick dopamine fix. You can get frustrated easily when you are not getting an answer in a timely manner, or
something does not work speedily.
Can limit learning and create a dependency:
If you use a computer that has an Internet connection, it can be a perfect place to get information about any topic.
Getting instant knowledge makes you dependent on the computer and other electronic devices. For example, to find
spelling errors, an auto-correct or spell checker is a perfect tool that offers the benefit of finding mistakes and make the
correct spelling of a word. However, if you always depend on the spell checker or auto-correct tools and never learn
the proper spelling of a word, you are more likely to make spelling errors.
Also, there are many other helpful tools available, such as GPS, grammar checkers, and calculators. However, you may
be helpless when they are not working if you are overly dependent on these tools.
Potential loss of privacy

As the computer can store a large amount of data and if you store your personal data, or information on the
computer, it can be at risk of getting into the hands of others. Once your personal information has been
stolen by any malicious person, they can use the information to access your online accounts or use identity
theft to open other accounts, such as a new debit or credit card under your name.
