Fire Alarm Circuit With PCB

This document describes the design and implementation of a basic fire alarm circuit using a 555 timer integrated circuit. The circuit uses a thermistor to detect increases in temperature caused by fire. When the thermistor resistance decreases due to rising temperature, the output of a voltage divider increases, triggering the 555 timer. This causes an alarm buzzer to sound, alerting people to the fire. The document discusses the components, block diagram, PCB design, and advantages and disadvantages of the circuit. Commercial buildings are required to have fire alarm systems and smoke detectors to detect fires and avoid harm.

FIRE ALARM CIRCUIT WITH PCB

OBJECTIVE:
• In this project, we will create a basic fire alarm circuit that detects fire
by utilizing 555 timer. This alarm will sound when it detects smoke
produced by the fire. Alarm circuits are critical in detecting fires in time
to avoid personal harm or property damage. Commercial buildings such
as offices, theatres, shopping malls, and other public places are required
to include fire alarm systems and smoke sensors.

HOW IT WORKS

• If the temperature increases, the resistance of the

Thermistor decreases. In case of fire, the temperature
increases. This increase in temperature will reduce the
resistance of the Thermistor. As the resistance
decreases, the output of the voltage divider will
increase.
FIRE ALARM SYSTEMS:
• Smoke Detectors:
Smoke detectors are devices that detect smoked caused by fire and enables fire alert
and other fire protection systems in the building.
• Alarm bell/ Voice alert:
Alarm bell is a device that makes a loud ringing sound to warn of danger. It will
sounding all over the building.
• Manual pull/Break glass station:
This is operated manually but triggers the alarm bell/voice alert when muted.
• Heat Detectors:
Heat detectors similar to the smoke detectors, which are designed in order to detect
thermal Change due to fire alarm in a building.
APPLICATION:
ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES
Advantages:
• Alerts people in the premises by detecting rise in temperature caused by
a potential fire hazard.
• Really important to ensure the safety of every civilian within the
premises.
• Can take necessary steps against fire.
• Prevents important loss of lives and assets being a safety device.
Disadvantages:
• False alarms may be given when an individual or resident is cooking.
• False alarm may lead to some people not responding to alarm with the
alacrity.
• The component lacks a smoke detection sensor, so it can’t detect smoke in case
any person is smoking within the premise or if there is actually smoke fumes.
• The circuit component does not have an auto activated water sprinkler system
which becomes automatically active when there is a fire.
CONCLUSION

In the simplest terms, a fire alarm system's purpose is to detect

fires and to inform building residents and emergency personnel
through a centrally monitored and controlled site.
