**<Tengo + family member> can be used to further describe other members of
your family.

Saying their name:
There are three different ways to describe someone else’s name in Spanish:
1. Se llama______- His/her name is __________
2. Su nombre es_______- His/Her name is ________
3. El/Ella es_________
• You can also incorporate their relation to you when saying their name.
• For example:
Mi madre se llama Leah- My mother’s name is Leah.
El nombre de mi hijo es Liam- My son’s name is Liam.
Mi padre es Juan- My father is Juan.

• When describing the characteristics of others, we must remember to use the verb SER
and its forms.

¿Cómo se describe los miembros de tu familia?
In order to describe our family in Spanish we need three things:
• A family member
• A form of the verb “ser” (es/son)
• An adjective in Spanish
• Example: Mi hermano es alto.- My brother is tall.
• Mis abuelos son viejos.- My grandparents are old

• *es- is used for describing ONE person (singular)


• *son- is used to describe TWO or more people. (plural)
