Youth Recreation & Culture Center, Copenhagen, Denmark: Spaces Literature Study

The Youth Recreation & Culture Center in Copenhagen, Denmark consists of three slender building profiles arranged parallel to nearby train tracks. The profiles are pressed together at one end of the long, narrow site but twist and bend apart along the length of the building, resembling a flat hand with outspread fingers. Inside, the building incorporates various spaces that reference classical domestic rooms, like a kitchen, dining room, and workshop. It also includes a gym, skate park, and outdoor areas, merging recreation and leisure activities under one roof through its adaptive form. Noise reduction elements were integrated into the landscape design to address noise pollution from the adjacent railroad and roadway.
