SIMPLE PAST TENSE FORMULA:

NEGATIF SENTENCE
Kalimat negatif simple past tense dibuat dengan did dan not. Did
adalah bentuk lampau dari kata kerja to do. Did dan not sering
disingkat menjadi didn't.
Contoh:
• I arrived in London on Monday -> I didn't arrive on Sunday.
• They stayed at the Vivaldi Hotel ->They didn't stay at the Carlton
Hotel.
Karena "did" merupakan bentuk lampau, maka kata kerja utama
tidak mengalami perubahan.
FORMULAS AND EXAMPLE OF NEGATIVE
SENTENCES.
Simple past tense interrogative:
Did + subject + verb 1
Atau
Was/ were + subject
Example:
Did you see my wallet on the table?
Did the student come to school?
Did you rest enough last night?
Were you late to come to the office yesterday?
Was he so sick?
Was the movie so fantastic?
Did he clean your clothes yesterday?
IRREGULAR VERB:
Kata kerja tak beraturan adalah kata kerja yang perubahannya tidak tetap atau tidak
beraturan pada bentuk past (verb 2) dan bentuk past participle (verb 3).

Example:
Be, was/were, Been = Kata penghubung
Begin began begun = dimulai

SIMPLE PAST TENSES FUNCTION
Declare an event or occurrence that was carried out in the past

Example :
I met a beautiful woman last night (Aku melihat seorang wanita

ADVERB OF TIME.
Adverb of time is an activity that was
done yesterday. The simple past tense is not
only about yesterday, but an hour ago, last
Sunday and during a trip a year ago, it cannot
be used in simple past sentences.
Example:
(+) Papa visited my house yesterday. (Papa mengunjungi rumahku kemarin)
(-) Papa did not visit my house yesterday. (Papa tidak mengunjungi rumahku
kemarin)
(?) Did Papa visit my house yesterday? (Apakah Papa mengunjungi rumahku
kemarin?)
yes, he did. / No, he did not.

EASY WAY TO LEARN SIMPLE
PAST TENSE.
Using the simple past tense is not too difficult, its use is
almost the same as the simple present tense. The simple past
tense is used to express events or facts that happened only in
the past. There are two important things that must be
considered and applied in both verbal and written use.
There are 2 important things to pay attention to :
1. CHANGES WORD
Verb changes that we do are divided into two categories, namely kata kerja yang beraturan
(regular verbs) dan kata kerja yang tidak beraturan (irregular verbs).
SIMPLE PAST VERBAL:
(+) S + Verb 2 EXAMPLE:
(-) S + Did + not + V1 (+) Mama visited my house yesterday. (Mama

(-) Mama did not visit my house yesterday. (Mama
REGULAR VERB: tidak mengunjungi rumahku kemarin)
Add: Added (?) Did Mama visit my house yesterday? (Apakah
Allow: Allowed Mama mengunjungi rumahku kemarin?)
Bake: Baked yes, She did. / No, She did not.
Book : Booked
Brush : Brushed
Call : Called
Close : Closed
Change : Changed
2. ADVERB OF TIME
Adverbs of time are used to complete a sentence. There are several adverbs
of time in the past tense that are generally used, for example, last year, last
morning, last night, yesterday, two days ago, three weeks ago.
EXAMPLE:
● From june to october yesterday
● Two weeks agoLast month
● For a long time
● For 10 weeks In the 1960s
● In the last century
● In the past
