Transport & Distribution

Organic food is produced without the use of synthetic inputs such as fertilizers and pesticides. In India, the Food Safety and Standards Authority regulates the manufacture, distribution, and import of organic foods according to the Food Safety and Standards (Organic Foods) Regulations of 2017. Organic food certification involves a process certification to ensure production standards for growing, storage, processing, packaging, and shipping are followed. There are two main certification systems - the National Programme for Organic Production and the Participatory Guarantee System for India. Certification allows for the sale of authentic organic products and facilitates exports.
