Understanding communication
 Latin word “Communis” means common – Refers to a natural activity of all humans, which is to
convey opinions, feelings, information and ideas to others through words (written or spoken), body
language or signs.

 “ Communication is an interchange of thoughts, opinion or information through speech, writing or


signs” – Robert Anderson

 “Communication is the process by which information is passed between individuals and or


organizations by means of previously agreed symbols” - Peter Little

 “Communication may be broadly defined as the process of meaningful interaction among human
beings. More specifically, it is the process by which meanings are perceived and understandings are
reached among human beings”. – D.E. McFarland

Communication to Inform
◦ Farming provides most of the food we eat. Our chief food crops are cereals or
grains. Cereals include maize, rice and wheat. We also grow barley and gram.

◦ How easily a virus spreads from person-to-person can vary. Some viruses are
highly contagious, like measles, while other viruses do not spread as easily.
Another factor is whether the spread is sustained, which means it goes from
person-to-person without stopping. The virus that causes COVID-19 is
spreading very easily and sustainably between people.
