T40 Rattler Operation


The H2S T40 Rattler is
a personal gas monitor
and should NOT be
used for gas testing.

Press and hold the On/Off


button until the word
“On” appears on the
display.

The T40 will power up and


begin a warm up routine,
which includes testing of
the display, audible, visual
and vibrating alarms.

Following this brief warm


up, the T40 enters the gas
readings mode indicated by
the four digit display and
gas identifier icon. The T40
is ready for use.

To turn the T40 off,


simply press and hold the
On/Off button for 5
seconds.

High/Low Alarms

Low Alarm: 10ppm


High Alarm: 20ppm

Service of T40

Each T40 must be sent to Zaff


International for calibration and
routine maintenance once every
six months.

Function Testing the T40

• Conduct function tests daily Sensor

• Using the same function test gas


cylinder used for the LTX310 &
TMX412, squeeze the trigger on
the cylinder, point the outlet at the
sensor and wait for the response.
• As soon as the low alarm of 10
PPM sounds, the function test is
complete.

Zeroing the T40
Calibration Adaptor

• To prepare the T40 for


zeroing, flip the calibration
adaptor to the opposite side
of the monitor. The T40 will
begin beeping indicating it is
now ready for zeroing.

Zeroing the T40

• To Zero the T40, press the


On/Off and Mode buttons
simultaneously. The T40 will
automatically zero and beep
after approximately 10
seconds. Flip the calibration
adaptor back to its original
position and the T40 will return
to the normal operating mode.

Peak Reading

• To check the peak reading


after the T40 alarms, push
the mode button one time
and the peak reading will be
displayed.

push the mode button once
to see the peak reading and
then push the On/Off button
to clear the peak reading.

• Remove the battery cover from


the bottom left of the T40 with
the Hex head plastic tool
provided with the instrument
and the “AA” battery will
easily slip out.

• Replace the old “AA” battery


with a new one and put the
battery cover back in place.
• Turn the instrument back on
with the On/Off button.
