Area

This document discusses area and units of area measurement. It provides examples of finding the area of squares and rectangles using counting square units or the length x width formula. Different units of area are defined for measuring small, medium, and large spaces - square millimeters for fingernails, square centimeters for papers/drawings, square meters for rooms/gardens, and square kilometers for large land areas. Practice problems are given to find the area of various shapes using the appropriate units.

drawings. Square centimeter is often written as
cm².
There are different types of units of area:

• Square meter is used for bigger spaces like

areas of rooms, houses, gardens, and fields.
We can write it as m2.
