Portfolio Assessment

Portfolio assessment involves students collecting a selection of their work over time to demonstrate their efforts, progress, and achievements in one or more subject areas. It is a collaborative process between the student and teacher, with clear criteria established at the beginning. A portfolio contains exemplars of student work and allows them to reflect on their learning and growth. It provides a more comprehensive view of students' abilities compared to standardized tests and engages them in self-assessment. While time-consuming, portfolio assessment matches assessment to teaching and gives students ownership of their learning.
