3.2transmitters Guided Wave Radar 706xxx

The document describes Magnetrol's new Eclipse 706 guided wave radar level transmitter. Key features of the 706 include an improved guided wave radar signal for better sensitivity, advanced diagnostics, HART 7 compatibility, and a complete line of coaxial and caged probes for applications from vacuum to high pressure and temperature. The 706 probes are designed to measure level all the way to the process seal without an unmeasurable zone, making them "overfill safe" for applications like emergency shutdown where full measurement is critical.

Model 706 – Caged Probes
We now have a full range of Overfill Capable Single Rod probes
• Will provide “coaxial” performance when installed in new or existing 2”, 3”, and 4”
diameter chambers/stilling wells…such as:

Model 7yL = HP Caged Coaxial probe
Model 7yJ = HTHP Caged Coaxial probe

• All probes have removable probe rod to be more robust during shipping and
handling
• Length up to 6 meters (20 feet)
Why “Overfill safe”?

• Most “radar devices” have an unmeasurable zone on

top of the probe or near the antenna where the
transmitter (may) lose the level when it rises into this
area
LLSD - 1208

• By designing probes with perfect impedance matching,

true Overfill probes can physically measure level all the
way up to the process seal without having to infer ?
• Can be important in cage applications, Emergency Shut
Down (ESD), and SIL applications

• Becomes a fully matched coaxial probe when installed
in the appropriate cage 2”, 3” or 4”
• Min dielectric: 1.4
• Max. Temp: 450 °C (850 °F)

NAMUR NE107

NAMUR NE107 “Self-Monitoring and Diagnosis of Field Devices” specification provides

four categories for diagnostic alerts from field devices.

• Maintenance required
• Out of specification

• Function Check

• Failure
These four categories are represented by colors and symbols …..
NAMUR NE107

• The Model 706 no longer has “Faults and Warnings”.

• They are called Diagnostic Indicators
• These Diagnostic Indicators have all been prioritized and assigned default
NE 107 categories.

NOTES:
1) The average “non-NE107” user will not recognize the difference as our
categories match what was done with the Model 705.
Same operations Model 705….Failures will drive the 4-20mA output to
an alarm state
2) The NE107 user can re-assign categories as they require.

was to position ourselves for
HART implementation of NE
107, and future wireless
capability.
