Green House Effect

The document discusses the greenhouse effect. It begins by explaining how greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide trap heat in the atmosphere, causing global warming. It then lists the main causes of increased greenhouse gases as the burning of fossil fuels from industry, transportation, and agriculture. The consequences discussed include rising sea levels from melting ice caps, more extreme weather events, reduced crop yields, and changes to plant and animal ranges. Finally, it provides solutions like transitioning to renewable energy, afforestation, reducing pollution, and adopting sustainable practices.

Green House
Effect

Group D
Introduction
When the solar radiations strike the surface of the earth,
the infra red rays show further increase in their
wavelength which prevents them to radiate back to the
outer space by the envelope of gases like CO, CO2, SO2,
etc. which surround the earth’s atmosphere causing rise in
temperature.
This retention of heat energy by the earth due to presence
of green house gases i.e. CO2, SO2, CO, etc. is known as
Green House Effect.

October, 2022 GREEN HOUSE EFFECT 4

Causes
• Due to human civilization, excessive amount of
CO2 is being deposited in the atmosphere
through furnaces of power plants, automobiles,
factories, burning of charcoal or fossil fuels, etc.
• There are other gases also which cause green
house effect: they are CO, SO2, NO2,
methane(CH4) and CFCs, which are usually
spread into the atmosphere due to industries and
other human activities.

Consequences
• Green House Effect or atmospheric effect results
in the increase in temperature of the earth as a
whole causing global warming.
• The rise in the temperature of earth’s atmosphere
results increase in sea level due to the melting of
polar ice-caps.
• Warming up of the atmosphere due to green
house effect would cause more hurricanes and
cyclones nearby oceans.

Consequences
• Higher atmospheric temperature would increase
evaporation of water from the farms, thus reduces
crop yields.
• Snow Melting in the Mountains cause floods during
monsoon.
• Monsoon may even stop altogether or rainfall may be
altered.

Consequences
• Tropical Plants can be grown in other regions
of the earth by making artificial greenhouse.
• Plays a role in evolution of life by increasing the
surface temperature of earth.
• Unseasonable flowers, fruits, vegetable, etc. can
be grown by making artificial greenhouse.
• Origin of new species in environment is also
due to global warming.

• Separation of Industrial Zones and Planned
Urbanization.
• Formation of new and refined plans and
policies which focus toward the future.
• Afforestation on barren lands and
encouraging the use of alternative sources
of energy.
• Reducing Pollution, Solids wastes and
focusing on Reducing, Reusing and
Solutions Recycling.
• Emphasizing on Zero Carbon footprint as a
Final Target for human civilization.

Conclusion
Even though the green house effect seems to only have
a negative effect, it is the only thing that keeps us alive
by keeping the earth at a suitable temperature.
But seeing the current situation it won’t take long for it
to have adverse effects upon the human civilization
and making it unable for us to live on earth.
Thus, All of us should get together to make a Earth that
we desire to survive in without ever disturbing its
natural balance.
