Prof. Felipe M. de Leon JR

According to Prof. Felipe M. De Leon Jr., chair of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, Filipino integral art has several key attributes: it combines beauty and function; it is holistic in nature, balancing different disciplines; and it is part of everyday life rather than a separate activity. Filipino art also values freedom of technique, inclusion of all people in the creative process, use of available resources regardless of budget, and prioritizes the creative process over the finished work. Its tendencies include a broad and multifocal aspect, expressiveness, polychromatic colors, maximalism, multifunctionality, and rhythmic patterns.
