The Adil Shahi dynasty ruled the Sultanate of Bijapur in southern India from 1489 to 1686. Some of the most prominent architectural structures from this period include the Bijapur Fort, Jami Masjid mosque, and Gol Gumbaz mausoleum. The Bijapur Fort contains palaces, tombs, gardens and was surrounded by a moat. The Jami Masjid mosque featured an octagonal design with arched corridors and an open courtyard. Gol Gumbaz, the mausoleum of Muhammad Adil Shah, has one of the largest single chamber domes in the world and features an octagonal base with a hemispherical dome.

 Bijapur fort was constructed by Yusuf Adil


Shah who belonged to the Adil Shahi dynasty. BIJAPUR FORT
Different rulers of this dynasty built the structures
inside the fort.
 There are five gate
1. Makka gate in the west
2. Shahpur gate in the northwest
3. Bahmani gate in the north
4. Allahpur gate in the east
5. Fateh gate in the southeast N

 The main entrance gate is from east , though the north
gate is used more frequently.
