According to Wenger (1998), communities of practice provide five critical functions:

by organizing interactions and collaboration among members.

Cultivate
by assisting groups to start and sustain their learning.

Encourage

WHAT IS LAC SESSION ?

It is a group of teachers who

engage in collaborative learning
sessions to solve shared
challenges encountered in the
school facilitated by the school
head or a designated LAC
Leader.
As stated in DepEd Order No. 35,
s. 2016, Learning Action Cell
(LAC) is a session conducted by
group of teachers who engage in
collaborative learning sessions to
solve shared challenges
encountered in school.
Such challenges may include:

• learner diversity and student

inclusion
• content and pedagogy

In the time of covid 19, the DepEd sets
new guidelines for the alternative
classroom observations as part of
RPMS for the school year 2020-2021,
and for the pure printed or digital
module teachers, since they will not be
meeting their students synchronously,
their option to be observed for the
observable indicators is through LAC
sessions.
