Organize Information
1. BRAINSTORMING
It is a process of generating creative
ideas and solutions through intensive and
freewheeling group discussions.
 According to Ralph Keeney, an emeritus
professor at Duke’s Fuqua School of
Business and a consultant to
multinational companies and
government organizations, almost
everybody does brainstorming wrong.
To be most effective In brainstorming we
should do the following:
1.1 Lay out the problem you want to solve.
1.2 Identify the objectives of a possible
solution
1.3 Try to generate solutions individually
1.4 When your problems, objectives and
personal solutions are clear, WORK AS A
GROUP.

2. GRAPHIC ORGANIZERS
It is also known as knowledge map, concept
map, story map, cognitive organizer, advance
organizer, or concept diagram – it is a
communication tool that uses visual symbols to
express knowledge, concept, thoughts, or ideas and
the relationship between them.

2.1 CLOCK DIAGRAM – is a variation of a pie


chart that can be used for diagramming the use
of hours in a day.

2.2 VENN DIAGRAM – shows the


logical relationship between
groups of things.
2.3 DECISION MAKING DIAGRAM –
provides a visual layout for
organizing the possible
alternatives to a problem along
with their advantages and
disadvantages.

2.4 KWHL Chart – allows a


student to document their
own learning process from
start to finish on a
particular subject.
2.5 Y-Chart – is a three-
part graphic organizer that
is used for describing three
aspects of a topic.

2.6 CYCLE DIAGRAM – used to show how a series


of events interacts repeatedly through a cycle.

2.7 FISHBONE DIAGRAM – used to


identify the cause or composition of
some examples system or event.
2.8 FRAYER MODEL – is a vocabulary
development tool. It helps to
develop a better understanding of
complex concepts by having
students identify not just what
something is, but what something is
not.

2.9 STAR DIAGRAM – is used for


organizing the characteristics of
a single topic.
2.10 CHAIN DIAGRAMS – it is also
called sequence of events
diagrams, are a type of graphic
organizer that describes the
stages or steps in a process.

3. OUTLINING
there are two major types of outline: the
TOPIC OUTLINE and SENTENCE OUTLINE
 TOPIC OUTLINE – arranges your ideas
hierarchically
 SENTENCE OUTLINE – it shows exactly what you
will say.
REMEMBER!
Topic Outline lists words or phrases while
Sentence Outline lists complete sentences
