This presentation summarizes the contributions of 10 notable Indian mathematicians: Aryabhata, Brahmagupta, Bhaskara II, Srinivasa Ramanujan, Kaprekar, C.R. Rao, Shakuntala Devi, M.S. Narasimhan, Bhama Srinivasan, and Neena Gupta. It discusses their major works and discoveries in fields like calculus, number theory, and statistics. These mathematicians made significant advances despite many facing challenges like lack of formal education or discrimination as women in the field.

Arayabhata was the first of the major mathematician
– astronomers from the classical age of Indian mathematics and Indian astronomy. His works include Aryabhatiya and the Arya-siddhanta.He was born on 476 CE Kusumpura present Patna. 2. BRAHMAGUPTA: Brahmagupta was an Indian mathematician and astronomer.he was the first mathematician to provide the formula for the area of a cyclic quadrilateral.Brahmagupta was the first to give rules for computing with zero. 3.BHASKARA II:
He is also known as Bhaskara Charya . He was one of the most
influentiual mathematicians of the 12thcentuary. He is best known for his work on calculus ,which he developed independently of Issac Newton and Gottfried Leibniz. In 1150, he wrote a heatise on calculus, which was the first work to describe the principals differentiation amd integration. He wrote several other texts on mathematics, which were hugely influential in the medieval period. Bhaskara died sometime around 1250 CE . 4. SRINIVASA RAMANUJAN:
He was an Indian mathematician . Though he
had almost no formal training in pure mathematics, he made substantial contributions to mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series, and continued fractions, including solutions to mathematical problems then considered unsolable. 5.KAPREKAR:
Dattatreya Ramchandra Kaprekar was an Indian
recreational mathematician who described several classes of natural numbers including the Kaprekar , harshad and self numbers and discovered the Kaprekar’s constant, named after him. Despite having no formal postgrsduate training and working as a school teacher , hepublished extensively and became well known in recreational mathematics circles. 6.C.R. RA0:
Calyampudi Radhakrishna Rao, FRS, commonly known
as C.R. RAO is an Indian –American mathematician and statistician. He is currently professor in Pennsylvania State University and Research Professor at Buffalo. His best known discoveries are Cramer-Rao bound and the Rao- Blackwell theorem. He got the Noble prize also . 7.SHAKUNTALA DEVI:
Shakuntala Devi was an Indian mental
calculator and writer , popularly known as the ‘Human Computer’. Her talent earned her a place in the 1982 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records. 8.M.S.NARASIMHAN:
He his born on 1938,M.S.Narasimhan received his PHD from the
university of chicago . He has made contributions to number theory and representation theory .He is currently a professor emeritius at the Tata Instituate of Fundamental Research. 9. BHAMA SRINIVASAN:
Bhama srinivasan was born in 1931 in Tamil nadu .She
went on to earn her doctarate from the university of cambridge in 1958, becoming the first Indian woman to do so. Srinivasan is best known for her work on warnings problem ,a longstading open question in number theory. In 1965, she proved that every natural number is the sum of at most 19 cubes, a significant improvement on the previos bound of 33. 10. NEENA GUPTA:
Dr Neena Gupta is a mathematician who has significant
contributions to the field of number theory. She is born in India, she received her doctarate from the university of chicago in 1968. After working at the institude for advanced study in princton she returned to India in 2004 for a position at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research . Dr Gupta is best known for the work on modular forms, particularly her proof of the Atkin- Lehnar conjecture. She won numerous prestigious awards, including the Shanti Swarap Bhatnagar award for science and technology .
