Traditional Types of Pizza
Traditional Crust Pizza: The crust is not too thick and not too thin. Usually it is created by rolling the dough into a round circle then topping it with sauce and cheese.
Deep Dish Pizza: A thick crust and dense toppings usually characterize deep-dish pizza, also known as pan pizza.
New York Style Pizza: The crust of this pizza tends to be much thinner than traditional and deep dish.

To capture the market, Dominos had to localize flavors. Very soon, Pizza Hut followed Domino's. It opened a 100% vegetarian restaurant at Ahmedabad, a one-of-itskind worldwide. Pizza Hut was the restaurant in Hyderabad, (Andhra Pradesh) which offered Halal meat.

Domino's introduced price cuts, discounts and freebies to attract the customers. During late 1998, both Domino's and Pizza Hut were trying to lure the customers with discount coupons by issuing such coupons through several schemes. In 1998, Pizza Hut also launched a promotional campaign to attract the customers. It had a 'Pan In Your Name' contest. In March 2000, Domino's slashed prices of Pizza by 40%. In October 2000, Domino's ran a scheme, where it gave away two pizzas for the price of one. During the same time, Pizza Hut launched a 'one rupee pan deal' scheme.

Pizza Hut and Dominos Pizza started early in the business and has gained popularity among consumers and made a worldwide impact evidenced by their growing franchises.
