The lower class of Naples, Italy is believed to have created pizza in todays familiar fashion The first pizzeria opened in 1830 in Naples, Italy--its still in business today Pizza made its way to the inner cities of the United States, New York and Chicago most notably, in the early 1900s thanks to the large population of Italian immigrants American soldiers further prompted the dish to become very popular at the end of World War II. Traditional Types of Pizza

Traditional Crust Pizza: The crust is not too thick and not too thin. Usually it is created by rolling the dough into a round circle then topping it with sauce and cheese.

Deep Dish Pizza: A thick crust and dense toppings usually characterize deep-dish pizza, also known as pan pizza.
New York Style Pizza: The crust of this pizza tends to be much thinner than traditional and deep dish.

Domino's introduced an integrated home delivery system within 30 minutes. Pizza hut positioned itself as a family restaurant.("restaurant dining
experience.)

To capture the market, Dominos had to localize flavors. Very soon, Pizza Hut followed Domino's. It opened a 100% vegetarian restaurant at Ahmedabad, a one-of-itskind worldwide. Pizza Hut was the restaurant in Hyderabad, (Andhra Pradesh) which offered Halal meat.

Domino's introduced price cuts, discounts and freebies to attract the customers. During late 1998, both Domino's and Pizza Hut were trying to lure the customers with discount coupons by issuing such coupons through several schemes. In 1998, Pizza Hut also launched a promotional campaign to attract the customers. It had a 'Pan In Your Name' contest. In March 2000, Domino's slashed prices of Pizza by 40%. In October 2000, Domino's ran a scheme, where it gave away two pizzas for the price of one. During the same time, Pizza Hut launched a 'one rupee pan deal' scheme.

In November 2000, Pizza Hut introduced a scheme called 'barah nahin to tera (if not served in 12 minutes, it is yours free)'. Domino's was spending 50% of its total marketing budget on special offers and discounts along with delivered direct mailers and pizza training classes. . In August 2000, Domino's launched the 'Hungry Kya? (Are You Hungry) sequence of advertisements on television. Domino's tie-up with Mahanagar Telephones Nigam Ltd. (MTNL) for the 'Hunger Helpline'. Pizza Hut's first campaign on television in July 2001, which said, 'Good times start with great pizzas. In March 2001, Pizza Hut opened its first three-storeyed 125-seater dine-in restaurant at Juhu in Mumbai.

Pizza Hut and Dominos Pizza started early in the business and has gained popularity among consumers and made a worldwide impact evidenced by their growing franchises. Pizza Hut is the more expensive pizza compared to Dominos pizza but Dominos have more branches catering to a lot of people, making it more convenient to them. Pizza Hut offers more varieties in their menus compared to Dominos pizza.

Pizza Hut is more superior to Dominos Pizza when it comes to taste, while Dominos Pizza boasts at its affordability and average but satisfying product. Pizza Hut launched a pizza into space and successfully delivered it to astronauts aboard the International Space Station. Dominos has announced plans to build a pizza shop on the surface of the moon.
