Introduction

• Power Point is a program that provide us to create


electronic slide show which contains text, charts,
drawings, speaker's notes, sound, animation and
clipart graphics ect. which can be shown on each
slide automatically or manually.

• Power point is powerful presentation package.


• Presentation is the collection of slides.

• Slides are the individual Pages of the presentation


that contains the text , pictures graphs etc.

• It helps us in bringing the ideas and information


that can be conveyed to the audience efficiently
and effectively.
• It is an easy to use program or making
professional quality presentations in various way
like

• Displaying on screen ,where user can use special


effects features of power point such as sounds,
animation and other formatting.

• Print them on paper either in black and white or


color.

Creating a Presentation in Power Point
involves
• Create a slide.
• Select a slide layout and Slide Design.
• Enter text/picture/animation/sound in the slide
• Formatting the text.
• Specify the time interval between each slide if
desired.

Definitions
• Presentation: The primary type of file
PowerPoint is used to create Presentations typically
have the file extension “. ppt”.

• Slides: Individual parts of a presentation.

• Layout: The specific arrangement of text and


images on a slide.
• Design Template: The specific “look” of a slide
or group of slides.

• Slide Show: The way a presentation appears


when you are presenting it.
• When you display your slides in a slide show, the
slides typically take up the whole screen, and they
appear in sequence.
• Placeholder: Boxes with dotted or hatch-marked
outlines that appear when you create a new slide.
• Placeholders are sometimes called “text boxes.

• View: The different ways of looking the slide

Starting a Power Point
• Double click on the Ms-Power point Icon on the
desktop if available.

• Click on start  Programs  Microsoft Office 

Creating a Blank Presentation
• From file New  Blank Presentation from task
Pane.

• New on Standard Toolbar

• Ctrl + N
Opening an existing presentation
• From file Open  from the open dialog box
browse the path and click on open.
• Open icon on Standard Toolbar
• Ctrl + O
Saving
• From file save  from the save dialog box select
the desired path where you want to save your
Presentation.
• Save icon on Standard Toolbar
• Crtl + S
Closing a Presentation

• Click the X in the PowerPoint presentation


window (Ctrl + W).
• The PowerPoint application remains open and you
can start a new presentation.
• To Exit PowerPoint:
• Click the X in the far right top corner.
• OR
• Choose File Exit. (Alt + F4)
Creating Slides
• To create a slide in blank presentation do the
following:-
• New slide option on formatting toolbar.
• Insert  new slide
• Ctrl + M
• Just Press Enter
• Right click on slide and select new slide.
Select the text Layout

• The Apply Slide Layout pane will appear on the


right side of the screen.

• The Apply Slide Layout pane provides you with


slide templates you can use when creating your
PowerPoint presentation.

• There are four types of Text Layout templates.


• Title Slide - The Title Slide contains two text
placeholders that you can use to display a title and
a subtitle of your presentation.

• Title Only - The Title Only slide contains a single


placeholder. You can use it to display a title.

• Title and Text - The Title and Text template


provides a placeholder for a title and a placeholder
for text.

• Title and 2 Column Text - The Title and Text


template provides a placeholder for a title and two
placeholders for text.
Selecting a text Layout
• To select a layout, click the layout you want in the
Apply Slide Layout pane.
• The layout will then appear in the Slide pane.
Apply a Design Template

• Design templates provide attractive backgrounds


for your PowerPoint slides.
• To apply a design template: Do one of the
following:

• Choose Format > Slide Design from the menu.


• Click the Slide Design icon on formatting toolbar
• Design templates will appear on the right side of
the screen.
• To apply a design template to all of the slides in
your presentation do one of the following:
• Click on the design template.
• Right-click on the template.
• A menu will appear. Choose Apply to All Slides.
• Click on the down arrow next to the template.
• A menu will appear. Choose Apply to All Slides.
Editing Slides
• Edit slides by clicking inside the placeholder text
and typing your own
• Slide title
• Bulleted items
• Sub-bulleted items
Deleting a Slide
• Sometimes you may want to take one or more
slides out of your presentation.

• To Delete a Slide:
• Click the slide. and Press Delete on your
keyboard.
• Select Delete Slide from the Edit menu on the
menu bar
• OR
• Right click the slide you want to delete in the pane
to the left Delete Slide.
Running slides
• Once you have created your slides, you can run
your Slide Show by doing one of the following
options
• Press F5
• In Slide show Menu click on View Show option.
• In view Menu click on slide Show option.
• For running the slide in between Press SHIFT +F5
• Select the slide show from Slide icon on view
buttons.
Navigating the Slideshow

Task Procedure
Go to the next slide. Do one of the following:
Press the Right Arrow key.
Press the Enter key.
Press the Page Down key.
Left-click

Go to the previous slide. Do one of the following:


Press the Left Arrow key.
Press the Backspace key.
Press the Page Up key.
To End Slide Show
• Use ESC Key to return to the Normal view.
• Right click and select the “End Show” option
• Click on the 4 icons on the left side of your slide
show.
• From the file menu select Exit option
Print Preview

• With print preview, you can see how your slides,


notes, and handouts will look in pure black and
white or in grayscale, and adjust the look of
objects before you print.

• You can also make certain changes when you


preview before printing. You can select:
• What you want to print: the presentation,
handouts, notes pages, or just the outline.
• A layout for handouts.
• To add a frame around each slide for print out
only.
• Orientation (portrait or landscape) for handouts,
notes pages, or an outline.
• The default orientation is always Landscape.
• Header and footer options.
Print
• You can print your entire presentation— the
slides, outline, notes pages, and audience handouts
— in color, grayscale, or pure black and white.
• From the File menu, select Print.
• From the Print what: pull down menu select
• Slides – one slide per page
• Handouts - 1, 2, 3, 6 or 9 slides per page; slides can
be ordered vertically or horizontally
• Note Pages – one slide per page, with additional
notes
• Outline View –the text of slides in outline format
Duplicate Slide
• Insert Menu Duplicate slide
• CTRL + D
• Edit Menu Dupliacte
