Math 6 Q1 W7

This document provides step-by-step instructions for dividing decimals over 5 days. It begins by explaining how to divide whole numbers by decimals by aligning the decimal points and adding zeros to the divisor if needed. Students are then given practice problems dividing decimals by whole numbers and whole numbers by decimals. The document stresses the importance of placing the decimal point in the quotient above the decimal in the dividend. Various word problems and multi-step problems are provided for additional practice. Feedback is provided to reinforce the correct process for dividing decimals.

WEEK 7 DAY 1

Dividing
Decimals
Answer the following number sentences on the stairs to get
to the top. Multiply the numbers below mentally and write
your answers on your answer sheets. You are only given 30
seconds to answer each item, so you are expected to reach
the top within 5 minutes.
We are going to learn how to
divide whole numbers by
decimals.
Ana had a 6-meter piece of ribbon inside the box. She
divided the ribbon among her friends. Each of them
received a ribbon of 1.5-meter long. How many friends did
she have?

1. How long is Ana’s ribbon?

2. To whom would she divide her ribbon to?

Let us now solve the problem given above. We
can do this by doing certain steps

1. What is asked?
2. What are the given facts?
3. What operation is needed?
What if you’re going to divide decimals by
whole numbers, what are you going to do?

Look at this number sentence: 71.25 ÷ 3 = n.

You may observe that the decimal number
comes first. Therefore, it is the dividend or the
number to be divided.
Find the quotient and check. Write your
answer in your notebook.
How do we divide whole numbers by decimals?

To divide a whole number by a decimal, change the

divisor to a _________ by
moving the _________. To move the decimal point
in the ________, the same
number of places, you will need to add one or
more________. Then divide.
How do we divide decimals by whole
numbers?

To divide a decimal by a whole number,

write the decimal point in the _______
directly above the decimal in the dividend.
Then divide the same way as you divide
whole numbers.
A. Directions: Answer the following problems below. Write
your answer in the answer sheets. Show your complete
solution.

1. Alice went to the hardware store and bought 5 identical

wooden boards. When Alice placed
all the boards end-to-end, the line was 1.6 meters long.
How long was each board?

2. A factory used 365.4 kilograms of rice to make 7 batches

of rice cake. How much quantity
of rice did the factory put in each batch?
Directions: Round the answers to the nearest tenth. Write the
answer on its corresponding letter. Arrange your answers from
greatest to least value to see what is the message below.

Write your answer in your answer sheet.

1. 32.5 ÷ 25= _____ [S]
2. 94.4 ÷ 16= _____ [U]
3. 86.8 ÷ 14= _____ [R]
4. 88.4 ÷ 26= _____ [G]

WEEK 7 DAY 2
Dividing
Decimals
Recall past lesson.
We are going to learn how to
divide whole numbers by
decimals.
Here are the steps:
Align the decimal point in the quotient to that of the
decimal point in the dividend. Divide like dividing
whole numbers starting at the left.
Repeat the process until you get the final quotient.
This time, you’re going to put the decimal point in the
quotient right after 3 because it is where
the decimal point in the dividend is aligned.
Directions: Help the driver of the car reach the finish line
by finding the quotient of the following decimals. Write
